Is my marriage in Mexico legal?
Legal marriages in Mexico are called "Civil Ceremonies" and are conducted by a Judge residing in the locality of where you wish to get married. Marriages performed by ministers or priests (even Catholic Priests) are not legally binding in Mexico. They are the symbolic and spiritual part of your wedding celebration.

Do we need to get our marriage license in our hometown before coming to Cabo?
No, all the legal paperwork is completed in Los Cabos, Mexico.

When do we receive our marriage certificate?
You receive all of your completed documents immediately following the ceremony.

How long is the ceremony?
The Civil Ceremony with the judge and translation is approximately 10 minutes. The ceremony can be between 10 and 20 minutes depending on whether you confirm a musician/singer, have other family members or friends participate in the ceremony and other such variables. The length of the Non-Denominational Ceremony depends on the vows, verses, readings selected by you.

Can I get married at a church in Mexico?
You need to obtain documents from your parish at home and comply with the church's premarital procedures and marriage preparation programs to be married in a church in Mexico.

Can we be married by a priest on the beach at Los Cabos?
The Catholic rules do not allow its priests to marry people outside of a physical church. This means that they cannot perform ceremonies at a beach or in a hotel.

What is the best time of year to have our wedding in Cabo?
Anytime! Weather is near perfect from mid-October through July. August and September can be hot and humid.

How many days before our wedding should we arrive in Mexico?
We recommend at least two days prior to your wedding so you can relax from your flight and enjoy your stay at the hotel, feel rested and refreshed for your special day.

What is the timing of our sunset wedding ceremony?
For a sunset wedding we suggest to perform the ceremony at least one hour prior to sunset.

What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
The possibility of rain is minimal here in Baja California Sur, sometimes during our short rainy season (September and October) it can happen. There is always a back-up plan.
