Frequently Asked Questions
What do the Wedding Coordinators do?
They are in charge of booking your wedding date, assisting you before, during, and after your wedding. They are on site.
Is the marriage license legal in our country?
When you receive the marriage license, it will be legal only in Mexico. It will be legal in your country as soon as we have the marriage license legalized with an Apostille Seal or Certified.
When will I receive the legalized marriage license?
You will receive the marriage license 4 months after your ceremony. We charge $50usd apart from the wedding package for this delivery. The document will be in Spanish. If you need it to be translated, you should have it done in your country.
How do I book a wedding date?
Ask for the availability for the date with the coordinators. As soon as the date has been placed ON HOLD, you have a maximum of 2 months to confirm. In order to confirm the date, the coordinators must receive written proof of the room reservation/booking from Barceló direct or from the tour operator (manifest).
****There are no legal wedding on Sundays or Holidays****
Can I pick the ceremony time?
The ceremony dates and times exclusively depend on the availability of the City Hall judges. Legal Weddings: the judge does the ceremony in Spanish, there will be a wedding coordinator to translate the ceremony into English. Non-legal/Civil/Religious Weddings: the judge/minister can do the ceremony in Spanish or English. The wedding coordinator will translate, if needed.
When do I have to pick the wedding package?
You should pick your wedding package at the same time that you book your wedding date. A package must be confirmed in order to reserve the reception site. Please let the wedding coordinator know as soon as possible.
Where is the wedding location?
The majority of weddings are held on our lovely beach. Catholic and religious weddings can be held in our outdoor church. Guests of the Maya Palace Deluxe can marry in the beach-front gazebo. The location will be confirmed once you meet with the wedding coordinator. The ceremony set-up is on the sand with a table for the judge, one for the cake, and one for the audio equipment (CD player, microphone, and speaker). The guests will have chairs with white covers and bows.
What happens if it rains?
We will let you know what backup will be used the day of our meeting with you. The backup will be used
if the day is rainy or if it looks like it will rain. The decision will be made by the Hotel, it is not negotiable. The
change will be informed to you within 12 hours before the wedding.
Ceremony back-up: Beach weddings will change to a gazebo next to the Maya Beach's Captain Morgan's
Grill or to the large palapa near the pier. Maya Palace Deluxe gazebo weddings will move to a banquet room. (The outside church is in a palapa)
Reception back-up: Beach dinners will be moved to one of the Grill Restaurants.
The change is made to ensure the service that you deserve for your special occasion, we want to always offer you the best and make your experience stress free.
